Journalism Pilgrimage: Reuters' Fleet

Journalism Pilgrimage: Reuters' Fleet
For someone who can hardly live a day without watching or reading the news, it's like a pilgrimage for me to visit Fleet Street, the heart of Britain's publishing and press / news media industry between the 15th century and 1980s. The first newspaper, The Daily Courant, was published in 1702 on Fleet Street.

The newspapers began to abandon Fleet Street due to its high rents in the late 1980s and today Fleet Street is occupied by banks and law offices.

This building here at 85 Fleet Street housed the head office of the Reuters news agency between 1939 and 2003. Reuters was the very last major news media to leave Fleet Street actually.
