Hong Kong Business From Britain; British Business from Hong Kong

Hong Kong Business From Britain; British Business from Hong Kong
When Great Britain took control of Hong Kong in 1840, a number of entrepreneurial Englishmen and Scots went along. The Hongkong and Shanghai Banking Corporation (HSBC) was established with British capital in Hong Kong in 1865. In 1991, the bank decided to move its head office to London from Hong Kong.

Cathay Pacific, on the other hand, was established in 1946 by an American and an Australian in Shanghai, China. But it soon moved to British Hong Kong and became a subsidiary of Anglo-Hong Kong conglomerate John Swire & Sons Ltd.
