Left: The Trump Building, 40 Wall Sreet. Built 1929 as the head office of the Bank of the Manhattan Co. (founded 1799). It later became the Chase Manhattan Bank and today's JPMorgan Chase & Co. Donald Trump converted the former bank head office into a residential apartment building of his namesake.

Right: With the European Union flag is 55 Wall Street. Built between 1836 and 1842 as the Merchants' Exchange. In 1863 it was used as the United States Custom House. In 1905 the building was remodelled and doubled in height. It later became the headquarters of the First National City Bank (which evolved into today's Citbank and Citigroup). Citi has long left this building, which is now managed by the Cipriani family, famous for organizing events for the socialites, and whose brown flag flies at the building now.
