Columbus Circle

Columbus Circle
This is Columbus Circle at the southwest corner of Central Park (off photo), where the 8th Avenue, Broadway and Central Park South all meet.

The white statue you see is a 700-tonne statue of Columbus erected in 1894, standing on top of a 70-foot granite column.

The three prows (what are prows??) on the column represent his famous fleet: The Nina, The Pinta and the Santa Maria.
