High-rises in the Mid-Levels

High-rises in the Mid-Levels
Hong Kong Island really has very little flat land. Right from the time when Britain took Hong Kong in the 1840s, the wealthy British elite built houses high up on the hills with a commanding view of Victoria Harbour. The area is actually known as "Mid-Levels" or 半山區 in Chinese.

Each of the apartments you see here easily costs USD $4 million at least.

If you're terrified of height, then this is not a place you want to be. Even if you're just 20 floors up from the ground, but because the gound is high up on the hill, sometimes you can't see the gound when looking down, or that you're 70 floors above the ground level!

Also, when a typhoon hits in the summer, these building high up in the open hill sways a little in the 120 plus km wind, which is a normal movement for any high-rises.
