Down to earth with a bump

Down to earth with a bump
We're back from the Lakes, having left in early morning sunshine with just a touch of mist floating round the boats on Windermere – a fairytale sight. The weather on the journey home gradually changed to fog, drizzle then torrential rain as we neared London. This morning we woke to dripping cobwebs and lingering mist. This was taken through the window. I don't think I'll be hanging the washing outside!

"He lingered, to weave his web, in the thin exterior air ... but of all cynics he was the brightest and kindest, and the subtleties he spun are mere silken threads for stringing polished beads." ~ Henry James writing about Nathaniel Hawthorne in 1896.
