I occasionally wonder what future generations will make of our images should they stumble upon them in the vast digital archive of the future. Our pre-occupations with anti-photographs and the art of the back alleys. There is a poignancy about this picture.

That's such an interesting thought, what will these things look like in 200 hundred years, 500 years or much longer still? I just hope earth is still turning for them to be looked at.
I found this abandoned house an old part of Reno. This is what I saw when I looked over the fence. Clearly a place being used for homeless people to sleep in relative peace. You see the dirty blankets and moving traps a lot under bridges and in alleys. It's nothing unusual in the city, it's just the way it is, but you can't help but try and understand or imagine what it would be like to be with a home or an real shelter form the heat or the snow. It does make you feel grateful for having enough to eat and a roof over your head, but it can haunt you, when your always on the street and wondering the alleys looking for images; it's so in your face. When I saw this I was really intrigued by the normal order of the flip-flops in all that chaos. It really got under my skin. I think I took three shots from different angles, trying to capture the incongruity but never felt I really nailed it. Maybe I should post the others too and see what people think.

that's exactly what draws me to this one...the seeming incongruity of the neat, clean shoes.

Thank you Krystina ! this a shot i resale wanted to get right . it struck me so full of order in the midst of chaos. There has just something enigmatic about it too. I never i got it just right. I had to shoot over a fence which limited my options for a good composition. people have responded to the " splash of red " and that was one thing I knew I had to get in. It was too dreary otherwise.
