Found this pair of beetles near Jaco, Costa Rica (Pacific coast). Fairly large, the male (I'm assuming the smaller one is the male) is about 1in/2.5cm long.

If someone could help me with at least what family these beetles belong to, I'd appreciate it - I've never seen antennae like that before!

The smaller one is probably the male -- the large antennae are probably to help him find a girlfriend. Unfortunately, I'm not good with beetles and can't help with the ID.
