Despite having worked in the city for many years, I never noticed or knew that it was the face of Sir Winston Churchill, that was at the centre of this clock over the main entrance to the old Financial Times (FT) Building..Brendan Bracken, chairman of the FT, after whom the building was named, commissioned Phillip Bentham to design it. Bracken had served in the War Cabinet under Churchill

I never knew that! Thanks for the information, I enjoyed reading the English Heritage listing. You can't walk more than a few yards in London without coming across something fascinating ... if only you knew where to look for it!

And now I know that the old FT building was built in pink sandstone as a nod to the colour of the newspaper! You live and learn.
