HFF at the museum

HFF at the museum
Rabbit is a frequent visitor to National Museum of Scotland in Chambers Street – he often pops in for a quick visit whilst in Edinburgh. This is the grand gallery, including the optic from the Inchkeith lighthouse in the firth of Forth, designed by David Stevenson in 1889.

On this occasion Rabbit was at the museum to see the Wildlife Photographer of the Year 2018 exhibition, on loan from the Natural History Museum in London. Do try to visit it if you can! Some stunning images, including some which will make you cry in anger at what the human world is doing to animals, and some which will make you want to throw your camera away saying ‘I give up’ - such as the jaw-dropping images taken in the ‘aged 11-14’ and ‘aged under 10’ categories….!

One of Rabbit’s favourite images was this one:

A smashing image.................and it sounds as if Rabbit had an interesting and informative visit. HFF to you both and enjoy the weekdne.

I saw the exhibition at Bristol recently - well worth the hour's wait to get to the front of the queue. I remember there were a few UK photographers exhibited, but I don't think there were any images actually taken in the UK, which I found a bit sad.

heavens, you had to queue for an hour? oh dear, that would have put me off. Even on a Saturday, it wasn't too busy in Edinburgh.

There was one photo I recall which was taken in the Cairngorms - a red grouse(?) walking between some fence posts in the snow. The photo looked nearly monochrome but I don't think was actually b+w. I remember thinking 'that would make a good HFF shot on ipernity'......

The Comedy Wildlife Photographer of the year exhibition is on tour at the moment. I'm waiting for it to come somewhere near me. If you Google it, you can find lots of last years images - some of which are absolutely hilarious.
