The Russian border - happy invisible Fence Friday!

The Russian border - happy invisible Fence Friday!
This is a rather cheeky HFF shot, I hope it's allowed! There is a sort of fence here - or rather, an invisible border. The remarkable and fragile Parnidis dune, in the Curonian Spit natural park, marks the border between Lithuania and an enclave/exclave of the Russian Federation*. The border runs through the pristine stretch of sand in the distance (see note on picture) - the wooded peninsula is in Russia.

The dune is a great tourist attraction - you can see small children exploring it in the foreground - but the constant footfall and the effects of tides and weather add to the dune's fragility.

* and therefore also the border of the European Union. One of the signs noted that this was the 'end of the EU' - a rather poignant and painful message for some of us...................

Nothing like an invisible but definitive 'fence' to stretch the imagination. Thank you for the description and note.

Allowed as far as I am concerned! I agree with Amelia. The children show the vast scale! Wonderful shot and HFF :-))

An amazing landscape. I'm glad the fence is an invisible one. I'm for fewer fences and, if there can't be none, invisible ones.

I've never seen an invisible fence before...................but then I wouldn't would I..??

Cool shot..............some lovely earth colours in the dunes and the tree line sits nicely across the top third of the image.

So, a belated HIFF to you and Rabbit. I hope you're both enjoying the weekend.

A lovely landscape shot and there is nothing wrong with an invisible fence. What worries me more is invisible Rabbit!! Hope he hadn't disappeared over invisible fence border!!
