some photos on being alone on a hill

some photos on being alone on a hill
I went walking up in the hills and I stayed there until it was dark. It felt good. Somehow life felt clearer.

Dark photographs of a clearer life sounds like a paradox, but there is a deep sense of peace and relief in these photographs.

I especially like this one, with this little isolated building, at the angle of the valley. I'm each time surprised how close down the hills' slopes one builds in New Zeland, as if there was never a heavy storm causing floods.

yes, it was good to be out still taking photos in twilight. I don't think anyone would build a house down there it was close to being swampy. Wellington is rather unique in New Zealand in that it is built on steep hilly country, though Dunedin may be a close second.

not much sun would enter the floor of that valley during winter

I would say none at all, those hills are on the north side.
