Doll stand drama

Doll stand drama
I decided to finally get a bit more technical with my photos and devise a stand that couldn't be seen in the finished product....the hubby had to help with this, so enter pvc piping and fishing line. A little photo editing (that I had to learn) erases the fishing line from the photo, and finally, my girls can hold their own without conveniently deciding to be wallflowers or lean on their boyfriends for help!

The bottom parts of the stand were cut to fit on both sides, but one long pipe might be able to be used to balance it (though it might look a bit like a soccer goal at that point!). I hope this helps those still looking for a cheap and easy way to recreate those awesome photos!

By the way, the fourth photo was a nod to another photosite user who had her kitty photo bomb her shots. Melvin, ever the curious creature, can't resist sneaking in for a photo either. ;)

Fifi Lovespurp, Darcie Daniels, Sydney Bee, VinVisible and 4 other people have particularly liked this photo

This is really cool Leslie, but I'm not sure I understand how you doll is standing up. Is she on a stand that you erased? I would love to know!!

Sorry, Connie--I should have been a bit more specific! Fishing line in a loop goes around her neck, and then the string comes out behind the hair--this is the very thin, clear line you see that extends up toward the top pipe---you tie the fishing line there (and erase that line with Photoshop -- I learned just yesterday!) or you could use a clamp to keep it in place on the pipe. I hope that helps!

You're vey welcome--it was very cheap--it only cost about $10 for everything, and the elbows (joints) go on to the pipes easily--it's just the cutting part that you might need some help with in terms of some sort of saw if you'd like to make the height shorter, etc. (We used a drimmel tool that does cutting through plastic, metal, etc). Another user also used the jewelry thread rather than fishing line for her dolls with this, and she said the dolls don't move around too terribly on the pipe, so that's a good fix, too.

Thanks Leslie! My husband spends half his time in the plumbing section to make stuff for his gold panning! I'm going to show this to him! He likes to spoil me ... I think all our husbands do! Maybe it's because men don't care about talking as much as we do, so if they make us stuff ... it keeps us busy, so they can watch TV!!!!

I think you're right about our hubbies. :) The stand was incredibly easy to make, and if you know how to use the little bandaid icon in photoshop (at least that's what I call it), that's what will erase the string from being visible in the photo. Good luck, Connie!

Thanks for the information Leslie ... I've never used photo shop in my life, but I must have something I could do. My only problem now is that I'm so BUSY remodeling all our houses, that I don't have the time to experiment with these things. I'm really looking forward to your house because it's so different from the ones I've done so far!

Did you ever see when you & James took me & Ryan on a blind date?? That's who mini- Me is dating now. I think he's really cute, & I anticipate some fun there!
