A First Christmas Record for Children (front cover)

A First Christmas Record for Children (front cover)
This was the Christmas record I remembered the most from my childhood. My older brother made me a cassette tape of it about 20 years ago, but I hadn't seen the cover and had forgotten what it looked like. Enter the magic of the internet! About a month ago, escapetochengdu here on Flickr posted this image of it, and the memories came flooding back. I desperately wanted a copy of the actual vinyl and the cover art. It wasn't easy to find, since there's another record by the same name (also available on CD now) with only some of the same music and a totally different cover. I kept finding the other version on eBay but not this one. Finally I lucked out and found a copy at a bargain "buy-it-now" price. I figured the album would be completely unplayable, but it's in better condition than our childhood copy, and the hissing and popping cassette copy I own.

This is a photograph of the cover, which I then cleaned up a bit in photoshop. I covered over the previous owner's name, which had been scratched out with marker, and the back cover had a price written in purple marker over Santa's beard. I did a color adjustment too, and I'm just noticing now it brightened it a tad more than it appears in real life.

That's a cool story of a search for an old favorite. We can all relate, I think.:) And it is a nice cover -- I love the Santa head.

Thanks, Smiley. I think the cover is creepy and cool at the same time! It probably contributed to me being scared of Santa back then (scared of sitting on his lap in person anyway). Not so scared I wouldn't go see him for a candy cane or write letters saying what presents I wanted, though, haha.
