The afterglow of hearing a legend play...

The afterglow of hearing a legend play...
Dave Brubeck played last night in Abravanel hall. A legend in jazz (and most famous for his recording "Time Out"), he will turn 87 years old this December. He played to benefit the GAM foundation, a Salt Lake City nonprofit that promotes jazz education among students in Utah. About 1,100 tickets were given free to high school and junior high aged jazz students. Some day they'll be telling their grandchildren that they saw Dave Brubeck live. As will I. After he was introduced and came onstage, there was a tremendous standing ovation. That (and seeing Dave Brubeck) made me cry. And at his ripe old age, the concert exceeded my very high expectations.
