This wonderful sculpture was carved out of a huge Cottonwood Tree, and is a tribute to Native Americans. The marker says "To raise the nation's consciousness of the plight of the first Americans, so they won't be forgotten but will be remembered in our hearts and minds, this statue is sculptured out of a giant Cottonwood tree in honor of Utah Native Americans--Southern and Northern Ute, Southern Shoshone, Goshutes, Paiute and Navajo. Creator Peter "Wolf" Toth is creating sculptures for all 50 states. Dedicated Nov. 23, 1985. It stands near the west entrance to Murray Park.
