Granite Furniture
This building is scheduled for demolition, and a developer is planning a generic chainstore new development, much to my chagrin. The buildings to the east and southeast will go first (within a month). I think this building will be there another year. The sputnik part of the sign is planned for inclusion, fortunately.
UPDATE: May, 2012---some buildings to the east were razed, but this building is currently being renovated! I still am waiting hopefully to see if the sign will be kept.

Ellie, this photo struck a chord with me. I was browsing your photos and the names of the towns mentioned in your descriptions, Vernal, Murry and Sugar House seemed seemed so strangely familiar. And then reading your caption to this photo I realized why. When my dad was working at KALL after the war, he became a regular actor in a weekly series of radio fantasies produced by his friend and colleague, Richard Thorne. In recent years I've had the opportunity to listen to many of them on YouTube and the show was sponsored by Granite Furniture, "with locations in Murray, Sugar House and Provo." It was interesting to see that they are still in business. If interested, here's, a link to one of the broadcasts with the Granite Furniture plug right at the beginning.
