Panamint Moon

Panamint Moon
Have you ever seen a lake in Death Valley? Well, you probably haven't unless you were fortunate to be there following a day or two of heavy rains. Then, the runoff will settle in one of several catch basins. The resulting shallow lakes will last only a few days but the memory of them far longer.

Here, a February storm caused landslides thoughout the park which greatly restricted travel. On the plus side, however, the storm also created this lake. The Panamint Mountains and a setting moon are reflected in it at sunrise.
