Is there going to be some retail outlets on the ground floor?

Not sure, I think maybe but it is a condo project. It would make sense for there to be given the area it is in.

I think we have rules now that ensure there is some retail on the ground floor in central areas, just to encourage some street life.

Montreal has tons of street life.. it's one of the city's best features. This square in particular is a magnet for people so this condo will just feed more into it. I'm not sure about mixing retail and commercial though.. Most condos are strictly residential here. I'll have to check.

It turns out the block of 10 floors at the bottom will be known as the Aimia tower and will be an office building so for sure there will be some retail at ground level. Likely stores and restaurants

That seems to be happening more often these days, putting up a multipurpose building gives more opportunities to fill it with tenants, you don't have to look at just one segment of the market.
