Hunger

Hunger
We closed the door of our family run grocery store for the last time on December 31, 2010. The city bought the building, and on Monday, September 12, 2016, it was razed.
I worked there full time for 34 years, my father for 60+ years. The store had been in business for more than 100 years.

View on Black.

Our neighborhood is being overtaken by infill homes. Small homes that are 65 years old fall quickly under those jaws.

Çà fait mal de voir ton commerce rasé de la sorte après tant d’années ,c'est bien sur très émouvant et très pénible a la fois...Que de souvenirs détruits par une simple pelleteuse.
C'est vraiment due,dur .....

Ohhh, how sad! You must have had a pretty emotional day when it finally came down. I know I would!!! Old stores are so wonderful and I always hate to see them go, so can't imagine how it would be with so much personal history.

Thank you, Diane. We closed nearly six years ago, but seeing it come down was more emotional than I expected.

what can I say Dave ... I can only begin to imagine the thoughts that
went around your head .... why oh why oh why ... does everything
have to be bulldozed ... I do not know ... progress maybe but sometimes
I think it is unnecessary ... my heart goes out to you and your memories !

If there is, Mark, it won't be a grocery store, unfortunately.
After a hundred plus years with at least one here in town, its a real pain to be without one.
