reflecting on a former life

reflecting on a former life
I have stood here for over 100 years, I remember being built, fresh cut lumber, the sweet smell of paint and the vibrant patterns of the wallpaper. I've seen so much.

My owners raised six children here, three boys and three girls. The boys would fish in the pond, skip rocks, and climb the trees. The girls chased butterflies, raised rabbits and helped Mom hang out the laundry.

The boys did chores with Dad, picked apples, and helped Grandpa bale hay. The girls learned how to bake with Grandma.

But, Grandpa and Grandma have since passed on, God rest their souls. Mom and Dad live in a condo on the beach in Florida. The kids, well, they all went to college, married, and have kids of their own. I haven't seen them in years. No one comes by to visit anymore. My days are numbered but I have my memories...sweet, sweet memories.
