Almost a missed car

Almost a missed car
I was driving on the Interstate and found this trundling along.

When I pulled in for gas, I was happy to see this come in for a fill-up!

A Champ. With the Sweptline bed made from purchased Dodge tooling.

I liked every Champ and Lark ever made. Wanted a convertible like Paul Newman, in The Color of Money (1986), but not so ratty.

Studebaker was good at making the best of what they had to work with. The Champ used the old Transtar chassis with a cab based on the Lark body shell. The step-side model used the Transtar bed which dated back to the 1949 R-Series. Though it was cobbled together from the corporate parts bin, the Champ looked very modern.
