DBS 66085 powers through Heald Green with 4L56 1317 Manchester Trafford Park to London Gateway, near Thurrock in Essex. As it passed through the station I noticed clouds of smoke pouring from the brakes of one of the wagons at the rear of the train. I mentioned this to the lady in the booking office, who later told me that the train was halted just up the line at Wilmslow. This resulted in the 3 other freight trains and one light engine I'd gone out to photograph were diverted via an alternative route.
Checking the times later, I discovered that the train was sat at Wilmslow for about 70 minutes, and eventually arrived at its destination over 2 hours late.

Are you likely to get the engine you missed?

The light engine tends to run most days, but the freights run as required. It was just my luck that I picked a day when things didn't go to plan...

A very interesting presentation, considering your notes.
Was it halted as a result of your action?

The lady at the booking office would have called Control, who would then have passed the word on to the driver. So more than likely I was responsible for the hold up....
