Mill town

Mill town
1960s Stockport, and a photo taken by my dad from the top deck of a bus, sometime during the early 1960s.
This is looking down Lancaster Street, off Great Portwood Street. The Old King public house is on the right of the picture.
The mill in the background is still in use as industrial units but virtually nothing else in this photo remains today; the whole area is now a retail park.

One of very few photos to have survived the years. I have happy memories of the 'Old King' - shown here - which became a regular haunt in later years for myself and some now departed freinds.
