Heavy Haul

Heavy Haul
BR Standard 9F 2-10-0 No 92113 has just passed beneath the Manchester - Romiley - Marple line near Bredbury, and drifts past Bredbury Junction, on the ex Cheshire Lines Committee line from Woodley to Stockport Tiviot Dale and Heaton Mersey. The line on the left goes to Romiley, and the line on which the loco is on still exists today, as a single track branch from Woodley, and terminates just beyond the bridge in the distance, at the Tilcon stone terminal.

A 9F just as I remember them. Absolutely filthy!

On a few occasions, you could be standing next to the loco and be unable to make out the number! With the nickname of 'Spaceship' - or 'Birkenhead Sulzer', depending where you lived - I'm wondering if this photo qualifies for inclusion in 'Things that Fly' !

Spending every weekend sneaking around Birkenhead shed (8H) I'd go for the latter name so maybe not. I have had to wipe down a cab side to log a number!
