Stalybridge Tameside Greater Manchester 28th June 2020

Stalybridge Tameside Greater Manchester 28th June 2020
An unidentified TransPennine Class 185 dmu heads towards Stalybridge station with the first eastbound train of this Sunday morning - 1K11 the 08.32 Manchester Piccadilly to Hull service. The Pennine mountains fill the horizon.

The two large cotton mill buildings, Clarence Mill to the left & Whitelands Twist Mill on the right, have been put to other use but it is good to see them still standing.

HFF and have a good weekend from lockdown Leicester!

A beautifully composed and timed shot to put the train neatly in the image, and I love that threatening sky. It seems to fit with the old mill buildings quite nicely. Good that the buildings have been put to use rather than just left or knocked down. HFF and have a good weekend

Love the composition and colors, with the contrast of the grey sky (in Italian we would call it "cielo a pecorelle" meaning it looks like a flock of grazing sheep). The old mills are beautiful buildings, glad to hear they have been preserved and reconverted to new uses.

HFF!

Being a Lancs lass I appreciate the buildings are still standing. Not good to work in though - those days are past. HFF

First time I have heard those hills described as mountains :) This rendition process works well on this scene which I am familiar with. Well done. Herb

Good point Herb but I suggest that to the railway builders of 1849 the Pennines looked like the Alps! Thanks for your comment.
