Parker River National Wildlife Refuge Visitor Center

Parker River National Wildlife Refuge Visitor Center
I had the privilege of participating in a one-year long Master Naturalist training session at Parker River National Wildlife Refuge in 2012 with 19 other potential volunteers. The program was free, with the stipulation that we each would agree to create four programs in the following year for the general public. My first event will be held here on August 17, 2013 to coincide with International Geocaching Day! It will be posted as a Geocaching event, but everyone is welcome.

We will have some fun and games, door prizes and a raffle and a potluck lunch. But the focus will be on the refuge with some educational presentations and demonstrations, and a short film that will run throughout the day in the cool and comfortable auditorium about those adorable Piping Plovers!

With more than 4700 acres of diverse habitats including sandy beach and dune, cranberry bog, maritime forest and shrub land, and freshwater marsh and over 300 species of birds and additional species of mammals, reptiles, amphibians, insects, and plants in the refuge.... there is plenty to talk about!
