Cane Toad

Cane Toad
Cane Toad, Cape Tribulation, Daintree Rainforest, Queensland, Australia.

Cane toads are native to Central and South America. They were introduced into Australia to eat the beetles that were damaging the sugar cane plants. However, the beetles in Australia lived at the top of the sugar cane and the toads did not climb well. Not only was their introduction a failure with regard to the sugar cane, they have had a negative effect on Australia's biodiversity.
