Ways of Seeing

Ways of Seeing
I started with a snowy landscape containing a red barn. Someone suggested cropping it down to the red barn on white. I did, and while processing the image realized there were many different ways to do it, emphasizing different aspects of the wood grain, color, or lack of it. I decided I wanted them all, or at least most of them. Thus the mosaic.

There's no one way to see something photographically. In addition to decisions made at the time of exposure, countless decisions made in processing affect the outcome. A photograph of something is different from the thing itself. Every photograph is a work of imagination.

Peter Brutschin, JAMagoo, Maria, Jean and 4 other people have particularly liked this photo

I like what you have done and what you have to say. I think this is the second time you've made me think today.

a good photograph is not just capturing what we see, but what we feel when we see something
