The legionary poles? Not sure, but they grace many accessible roman sites or museum displays along Via Claudia detours since at least a decade or two. They are hand carved and each roman has his own face and personality. We also got two of those guys in Altenstadt, protecting the layer reconstruction of the roman road and the mile stone replica. They simply make roman sites easier visible and are fun.
Here is a Roman of similar making who lives on the Auerberg, alerting to the roman settlement although here archeologists just put everything to look like before the dig and you can see nothing really there at the time in the purest sense.
The Roman who knows the trail :) / Der Roemer mit Peilung :)

The farm here was inhabited in the 2nd and 3rd century by romans, incidently rediscovered 2002 and made slowly into a partially permanently visible museum since 2006. There are no real above ground features left, only foundations of several buildings and an access road and in the grund where artefacts of all kinds of things found, among them most famous the terra sigilata sacrificial meall pots and dishes.
