Saint Stephen, Burguiso / Sankt Stefan, Burgeis
This chapel likely got it's current form already in the 9th century, of course also no tours on the day we where around / Diese Kapelle erhielt ihre heitige Form irgendwann im 9ten Jahrhundert. Leider war auch dort an dem Tag keine oeffentliche Fuehrung.

Lovely photograph. Walking to church looks like hard work!

This is just a tiny chapel, the church of the villagers is right above the oldest part of the village, that means just behind the point of view. Somewhat uphill to the side of this very old chapel is a showy monastry, most parts from baroque, with own huge church, standing there as if somebody dropped a wedding cake in the mountains. There are two other much larger chapels, the simple romanesque Saint Nikolas near the old roman highway and an other baroque one that is today in the village, but on the other river side, called pestilence chapel, which usually means belonging to a quarantaine house.
