A wall painting above a side altar, I would think late gothic. They got a lot of scetchy recovered wallpainting that matches forms of the vaultings so should be younger than the Christopherus outside / Ein Wandbild ueber einem Seitenaltar, spaetgotisch wuerde ich schaetzen. Sie haben viele freigelegte Wandbilder von denen weniger erhalten ist, die aber genau zu den Deckenboegen passen. Vermutlich alles neuer als der Christopherus an der Aussenwand.

Another nice series, Sonja. Pictures like this are always a reminder of how recent our own history here is.

Depends greatly on what you call your history -- as a mammal, as a human in general or as european whose folks emigrated just a few generations ago? ;)

Anyways, when this was painted Leif Ericson and Madoc the prince from Wales had reached the american shores already very long ago and disapered without real traces, probaply Mr. Columbus from Spain had found it too already.... Around the time the first english baby was born in the colonies, original gothic style came to an end with rich people planning and financing representable buildings, but in mountain villages it could be still in full swing -- just for comparing timelines. ;D
