There are long distance hikes as well as smaler walks of just a few kilometres with trailheads all along that private maut road leading off into the national park. A few of the later are so well maintained they can be done in any sneakers or more sensible dress shoes, in part even such landscape paths serve doubly as connector trails for the very big icefield hiking and climbing adventures of major peaks. But hiking on the road and it's turnout drives directly is a very bad idea, dangerous and for sure not very fun. Time windows where it is open at all and not crowded with motoryclists, biciclists and folks in very spirited exotic cars adding to the mix is only around the closing and opening times each day, or weekdays in truly yucky weather. This was taken some time after sunset and admission closing, we had some 20 minutes in good rest light to leave, and by the time we hit the hotel it was almost dark outside.

It really looks amazing. It's like a moon landscape with toy roads. Great shot.
