The rabit, albeit named "European," is also an introduced species in Germany. Originally they are from Spain and northwestern Africa..... And I bet the people maintaining the green public space in the city of Mannheim that must keep the lawns nice and trails secure also would call them a pest :D

They are a pest here too Sonja. They eat my neighbour's vegetables (but not mine, so far) and they eat the farmer's crops. But our local foxes eat the rabbits, which means they are not eating my chickens. So I like rabbits. Besides, they are VERY cute.
