Taking water

Taking water
Beyer Garratt NG143 takes water at Caernarfon before heading the last train of the day back to Porthmadog. These ex South African locomotives seem to be ideal for this line and easily handle the trains.

Forward visibility isn't great, but they do have power to spare.
The hardest parts are probably the curves that climb northwards out of Beddgelert towards Rhyd Ddu. It feels like you can be on three at once with the longer trains.
