The night safe was once ubiquitous on bank premises but is now much less used and available due to changes in the use of cash and electronic transactions. Most surviving examples are now out of use and will soon disappear as banks drastically reduce the number of branches they operate.

In the place I live, only one of the "high street" banks still maintains a presence - and that is part-time. The only alternatives are the Post Office and a branch of a regional building society (still a mutual).
Unlike a lot of people, I still prefer to use cash in shops ...
