Smithy Coal

Smithy Coal
The course of the new Manchester Airport Relief Road passes through the Poynton/Norbury coal mining area close to the Norbury Brook. A number of coal seams have been exposed during the works including this thin split seam of poor quality material known locally as the Smithy Coal.

Zeer interessante foto van deze kolenlaag aan de oppervlakte! Deze slechte koolsoort heeft een zeer hoog asgehalte bij verbranding.....Groeten Frans....
