shot for 'tsc' - what's left! - this rotting hull on dungeness shingles was a perfect subject for the challenge. with just the superstructure remaining the interior is gutted and open to the elements in this coastal wilderness. the ricoh's 'high contrast black and white' setting coped ok with the conditions.

the challenge set this week immediately made me think of this abandoned fishing boat that i have visited before. a twenty mile detour on my way to hastings was necessary though!

presented in landscape format on a 100cms x 76cms canvas and shown (and sold) at the september rodings barns art exhibition essex

great drama and power in the high contrast, the boat doesn't feel at all at ease in its surroundings

Great shot of this old fishing boat. I love the great contrasts in the blackandwhite.
I've only been to Dungeness once on the little train from Hythe, but I recognised it immediately.

This is just the way I imagined Rebecca's boat in the movie "Rebecca" from the book, if you've ever seen it (1940 filmed in b/w, of course.)

What a gorgeous "rotting hull" Jon. You've really done her proud.

The velvety black of this photo is so wonderful, fits so perfectly with the subject of your image... Poor little boat, all alone on the shore, dreaming of voyages and other seas.... sad as can be, and just beautiful !!!!

Quite dark and sinister. And since the boat is exposed to the rough elements here it'll rot away fast
