sony alpha a57slt set to rwl and fitted with an m42 adaptor. attached to a 'sun' zebra macro ring was a carl zeiss sonnar red 135mm all manual lens with a home made stage 1 cross process ring filter.

shot for 'the sunday challenge' - wood. the colour and texture of my technical drawing graphite pencils made a suitable subject for this weeks task and a chance to use my new paired back stage 1 cross process filter on front of the sonnar.

It looks like someone told them to "get the lead out" ... pencils are a favorite of mine ... used to love to get a few new ones for school along with a brand new box of crayons. :) Nicely done Jon.

i think it's the first time i've photographed pencils, they are not as easy as they seem! they have a life of their own the pesky things :-)

Bloody hell...magic job for a first time pencil shoot!
There is something about pencils that everyone loves. My son has a box full and uses them for his art every day...beautiful colours to blend and highlight with and create gorgeous masterpieces.

Not big enough for spandex shorts though!!!! ;)
