Green Sunfish (Invasive)

Green Sunfish (Invasive)
A Green Sunfish, Lepomis cyanellus, caught in a pond at the Sunny Hill Resort and Golf Course in Greenville, Greenville County, New York. This special place is in the majestic Catskill Mountains. Interestingly, although I have been fishing in New York State for most of my 70 years, I have never encountered or caught this beautiful non-native species before. It is originally from Asia.

micritter, Marco F. Delminho, tiabunna, John FitzGerald and 6 other people have particularly liked this photo

I hear that this species tastes really good, but I restrained myself from finding out! lol The only fish I caught I ever ate were a couple of trout, one in Colorado in the 70's and a flounder I caught here off of Brooklyn. My taste in fish is normally for Salmon fillets or steaks from the store!

Has nice markings =) Nice catch.... BTW, do they ask folks to not return something like this to the lake given its invasive species status?
