Mohair Lock Texture Comparison

Mohair Lock Texture Comparison
Starting the journey of my first Blythe reroot (knot method, coolcat scalp). In LOVE with the curly mohair as it does mimic my own crazy hair... call me narcisstic. I was actually born with a mohair reroot!! Pictured here, leicester long locks from StellasFiberFarm on Etsy... GORGEOUS. At left is a lock as-is, uncombed with minimal veg bits. Center is combed, separated into plugs, rinsed in water, air dried. At right, combed, separated into plugs, rinsed in water, application of DevaCurl Angel product, which I use on my own locks to encourage the natural curl. Comparison shows that the locks nearly double in length when combed, from 4 to 8 or even 9 inches, but also change significantly from a more dread-locked look to a fluffier texture and then curlier again with product. I like the dread look but can't figure out how to get the plugs to clump back together into such tight and yes, matted curls. Maybe this happens naturally over time?? Any thoughts from experienced rooters or mohair dolly owners?
