I got the 18" wheels turned and they add a bit of proper perspective to the scene. That's a regular 36" wide door drawn on the backdrop, to help size the car. Raising the horizontal body line at the rear, tapering down to the nose, helps give the car a touch of rake and lightens the tail somewhat. The headlight layout has begun and the long wiper sweeps have been planned. The outside rear view mirrors will fold flush into their round ports when parked.

The instrumentation should be quite advanced. Exterior-view cams are a necessity anyway, since the high tail blocks so much of the rear view. We discussed the instrumentation as seen in the 'Spinner', the elevating police car in Bladerunner, with its three screens. Syd had envisioned these to simply fold flat, when not in use and on the plane trip home, I found myself thinking of a dash assembly on this car that would close up when not in use. Turning the car on, would open up the clamshell dash area, with the three I-pad screens rotating to vertical. One of the screens would display the chosen rear-cam view. The passenger's side would involve its own separate screen for movies or entertainment, which would deploy the same way.

The wheels add to the realism. A dash that only shows the minimum of controls and information needed, but with the potential to offer as much information as the driver wants when needed, would be a dream of many, I'm sure.

Machining the foam wheels has turned out to be quite easy and a smoother surface than I originally thought I'd get.
The use-interchangeability of the screens would be an aid to the driver, once auto-drive was engaged. The larger, center I-pad would convert to a TV, so the driver could watch news, a movie, or even manage their Ipernity site, while GPS-guided commuting. A center green taillight would indicate to others in traffic, that the car was in auto-drive mode and observers shouldn't concern themselves with a driver's apparent inattention.
