A Marriage of Convenience (I)

A Marriage of Convenience (I)
I bought this 1953 Canon IVSb body recently, and during my convalesence I've had the time to give it a little TLC, and here it is, fitted with a very unusual Russian lens. It is the optical block of a Jupiter 8, skillfully fitted into the body of an Industar 61, and the result is a lens physically smaller than any of the iterations of the Jupiter 8, but retaining all it's optical qualities.

The lens came from Moscow, and I don't know who did this, but it was done by someone with great knowledge and skill, and they are to be congratulated on the quality of their workmanship, truly an excellent marriage ! My only contribution was to turn up a little aluminium lens hood in a "period" style !

The Canon is a little jewel of a camera - the finish and fit of all it's components simply exude quality, and it is a delight to use, one of the nicest LTM rangefinders I've ever used !

Taken with a Canon Digital Ixus 960IS @200ISO and photofinished in Picasa

I recognized at once the Industar 61 but, wow, Jupiter 8 is inside it? That's amazing! The Canon is tempting me since many time too. But I am resisting because first I have to get rid of the some 100 cameras bought just because yes.
Thanks for your explanations and hope you are now doing well.

Henrique, muitos obrigados!
I have wanted one of these Canon RF's for some time, but they are mostly too expensive, but this one was just right. Like you, I must reduce the number of cameras I own, or so I am told by my wife !!

Have you run a film through it yet ?

Brian, only a few shots in the garden, to check the focus and RF calibration, nothing worth posting.

I am grounded at the moment, still recovering from an operation and it won't be until next week before I am allowed to drive, but then I can get out again and really try it out!
