moss green man

moss green man
that suddenly appeared high on a palm tree. I'll check tomorrow and see if it was just a trick of the dusk light. Later: It's still perfectly visible in the morning light. I think parts of the moss have slumped in our recent rain (as they often do), but not usually this elegantly and meaningfully. :~) The nose looks flatter looking from the south. . . . . . photo MR

Obviously, I'm thrilled about it. Like an early birthday present. :~) I'm hoping it will bring back my moss mojo.

Wouldn't it just? My son and I are also discussing a USB microscope to make the whole process easier. Thank you for suggesting it last year. Apparently the very cheap ones are not much use, but more expensive ones are quite good. My research assistant at Macquarie uni is also thinking of investing in one for use at home.

2 1/2 days later, a large piece has dropped out of the forehead and part of the nose and mouth are gone.

3 days later, the face has repaired itself to its original shape, including the mouth. Don't ask me how it happened so quickly, because I have no idea. I wish I'd taken a shot of the damaged face, so that a shot of the repaired face would be meaningful.

Plus, I've seen two more faces in other moss on another palm trunk. Completely different ones.

Interesting! It's also interesting to hear that you are thinking about a USB microscope - what model are you looking at? I'd love to have some information if you have any.

This is the one Danya thinks might be best for me: www.ebay.com/itm/Multiview-Compound-Zoom-Long-Working-Distance-Microscope-50X-600X-2MP-USB-Camera-/120825939102?pt=LH_DefaultDomain_0&hash=item1c21c9849e
We're waiting on Alison's comment on it, and Alison is waiting on the comment of one of her colleagues, tomorrow.

It took me a moment to work out what a moss green man was but got it now! Have you seen the face on Mars? It's amazing how our brain absolutely needs to impose order and structure on every image. I need to have a look at your other photos and catch up. I've been awfully busy at work lately.

I never know how people manage jobs and keep up on the internet.

We're certainly hard-wired to see faces. This one looks right through our dining room and kitchen windows, so it's right in our faces a lot of the time. I love it!
