Canary in the Vineyard

Much as a canary warns miners of imminent danger, roses warn vintage wine grape growers. Those roses are an early warning signal to the farmers since they are affected by the same plant diseases and pests as the vines. They are beautiful to look at, as well!

This photo was taken by a Mamiya 645 ProTL medium format film camera and Mamiya-Sekor C 80mm 1:2.8 N lens with a Kowa L1A ø67 filter using Fuji 160NS film, the negative scanned by an Epson Perfection V600 and digitally rendered with Photoshop.
