This photo was taken with a Asahi Pentax 6 X 7 medium format film camera with a SMC PENTAX 67 1:4 45mm lens and HOYA 82mm HMC Y[K2] filter using Efke R 50 film, the negative scanned by an Epson Perfection V600 and digitally rendered with Photoshop.

Yes, the side-mounted drive shafts on this Shay "sidewinder" are on the opposite side.
The Railtown 1897 State Historic Park has 3 or 4 Shay locomotives under various states of restoration by a dedicated group of old locomotive aficionado geezers. Here is another, nearly completely restored.
