La Jungla in San Francisco

La Jungla in San Francisco
Second after second I struggled, lost and disoriented - stumbling forward through the nearly impenetrable vegetation.
Finally, after what appeared to be an eternity (but was only 45 seconds or so) I happened upon a trail which led to civilization and salvation!

This image was shot from a Zenza Bronica S2 Medium Format camera with a Nikkor-H 1:3.5 f=5 cm lens using Fujicolor Reala 100 film, the negative scanned by an Epson Perfection V600 and digitally rendered with Photoshop.

The first tree ferns that I ever experienced first-hand were these in the late '60s. I visit the Fern Dell several times a year.

Unbelievable, CA is blessed with an exuberant nature.
It is while ago, since I walked underneath palm trees.

The Pacific Ocean provides coastal northern California with a profound ice-free and wet winter and a fresh, misty summer. Plants (tropical and temperate) respond enthusiastically.
