Believe it or Not

Believe it or Not
30 miles from the nearest paved road In the middle of nowhere in Death Valley lies a unique and mysterious place known as "The Racetrack". Stones up to 300 pounds move about the landscape on their own. It is theorized that during strong winter storms the combination of a thin film of water, the soil properties, and a 90 mph wind moves them, but they have never been seen or filmed in motion.

This is one of the few places on Earth where this phenomenon occurs.

Actually, a better theory is that when water stands here and freezes, it creates a layer of ice which can be powerful enough to push the rocks around. Floating ice can be remarkably powerful even in a moderate breeze.
