Built 1940's - this engine is so huge the photo does not do it justice. It is old , crusty, and looks like a bullet !

Tom, sorry, a bit late here, but a great shot of real giant!

Built in 1943 by Alco in Schenectady, for the Chesapeake and Ohio Railroad, they were called "Berkshires" after the range of hills (mountains?) that they traversed with heavy coal trains. I think over a hundred were built, mostly by Alco, but also some by Lima in Ohio.
