St. Winwaloe's church

St. Winwaloe's church
(CF069329 sm) - It was actually open, but I love this doorway.

Steve Bucknell, jd weiss, Andy Rodker have particularly liked this photo

I have closed a church door to get a shot of it only to get a stream of abuse from a Gentleman of the Road who assumed I was excluding him from his preferred resting place for the night!
this is a terrific shot!

Looks like a portal to some world of dungeons and dragons......well, in a sense I guess that’s what it is. The colours look so right, making the door so “there”.

Wikipedia is fascinating on St. Winwaloe...”one of the phallic saints” ! “Opened a passage through the sea...”

Thanks Steve... Clearly there are many roads to sainthood :) He was apparently the son of Gwen the Three-Breasted... I would caution against a google search on that one...

The feet of his statue... "are pierced with needles by local girls who hope to find their soulmates in this way" - well I guess it beats Tinder :)
